Demolition and next steps

We are pleased that the redevelopment of the former Vauxhall site on Kimpton Road is progressing to demolition
At the start of 2026, Goodman submitted an outline planning application which sets the framework for the regeneration of the site. It is expected to be determined by Luton Council in the coming weeks and has been shaped by working closely with the council and a consultation process with local residents, businesses and community organisations, which took place last autumn. A separate application to demolish the existing factory buildings was approved by the council last year.
Now the regeneration will take another step forward with demolition work on the existing vacant factory buildings set to begin at the end of May.
Goodman has appointed contractor Erith Group to carry out the demolition works. Work will start by clearing material from inside the factory buildings, before the buildings are removed later this year. As part of the works, historical items from the Vauxhall factories will be preserved, while construction materials will be reused and recycled on site where possible.
Goodman has notified nearby residents and businesses of the upcoming start of demolition and is committed to providing updates throughout the process. Further information will be provided to local residents and this website will be updated again closer to the start of works.
